Resizing...

Get ProResizing changes an image's pixel dimensions: how many pixels wide and tall it is. A 4000 x 3000 photo resized to 1080 x 810 keeps about 7% of its pixels, so the file is much smaller and loads faster.
Resizing is different from compressing. Compressing keeps the dimensions and lowers the quality setting. Resizing changes the dimensions. For the smallest file, resize first, then compress.
CrunchBox draws your image onto a canvas at the new size in your browser, using the browser's high-quality resampling, then saves it.
- Drop your JPG, PNG, or WebP images into the box above
- Type a width or a height. With proportions locked, the other number follows
- For an exact size (a square, a banner), unlock proportions and choose Crop to fill or Stretch
- Click Resize, then download each file
File size limit: type a number in Max file size and the result comes in under it. JPG quality is lowered first, then the dimensions if needed.
Crop to fill keeps the middle of the image and trims the edges. Stretch keeps the whole image and distorts it if the shape changes.
Formats: PNG files stay PNG, so transparency is kept. JPG and WebP files are saved as JPG, at the quality you set with the slider.

Your images never leave your device. Resizing happens in your browser with the Canvas API, and nothing is uploaded. The resized file is a fresh drawing of your image, so it carries none of the original's EXIF data: no camera model, no GPS location.
This is why we run entirely in-browser: if we can't touch your files, we can't lose them, leak them, or profile them.
