Strip Metadata from JPEG, PNG, and HEIC Photos
Drop your JPEG, PNG, or HEIC files below. Identifying metadata gets stripped right here in your browser. Nothing gets uploaded.

Stripping...
JPEG, PNG, and HEIC files carry hidden metadata with information you probably didn't mean to share: device make and model, per-capture UUIDs, device serial numbers, GPS coordinates, creation timestamps, software that edited the file, and full camera settings (aperture, ISO, focal length).
Ray-Ban Meta photos carry IFD0.Make = "Meta AI", Model = "Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses", a per-photo UUID, and the device serial that's the same across every photo from those glasses. iPhones stamp make/model/serial and full EXIF. Removing that metadata blocks the metadata-based auto-tag path on Instagram, TikTok, and other platforms.
On videos, "Made with Ray-Ban Meta" can survive a metadata scrub on Instagram Stories. Whether photos carry something similar isn't confirmed. If you scrub a Ray-Ban Meta photo with this tool and still see attribution after Story-share, email hello@crunchbox.lol and we'll investigate.
CrunchBox parses the file's segment structure in your browser and rewrites it without the identifying blocks. For JPEG and PNG, pixel data is bit-for-bit identical to your original -- only the metadata headers change. For HEIC, we convert to metadata-free JPEG since HEIC's container structure ties image data to metadata pointers.
- Drop your .jpg, .png, or .heic file into the box above (or click to browse)
- CrunchBox removes the identifying metadata segments
- Download the cleaned file -- same photo, no fingerprints
JPEG: EXIF, XMP, Photoshop IPTC, MPF, comments, and anything stored after the image itself (Motion Photo video, HDR extras) are stripped. Two things are kept because they change how the photo looks, not who took it: the color profile and the rotation flag. Pixel data untouched.
PNG: tEXt, iTXt, zTXt, eXIf, and tIME chunks are stripped. Pixel data untouched.
HEIC: Decoded and re-encoded as JPEG (quality 0.92). Pixels are lossy-re-encoded, but the output has zero metadata.
- Uploading Ray-Ban Meta photos without the "Made with Ray-Ban Meta" auto-tag on Instagram
- Sharing iPhone photos without GPS coordinates, camera details, or timestamps
- Posting screenshots without the exact device model or app that captured them
- Stripping GPS from outdoor and travel photos before public posting
- Cleaning photos for journalism, legal, or source-protection contexts
- Removing edit history from photos processed through CapCut, Photoshop, or Lightroom
Your photos never leave your device. Parsing and rewriting happen entirely in your browser. CrunchBox has no server that could receive, store, or fingerprint your photos.
This is why we run entirely in-browser: if we can't touch your files, we can't lose them, leak them, or profile them.
