Instagram uploads photos at up to 1080 pixels wide. It keeps shapes from 1.91:1 (wide) to 3:4 (tall). At 1080 wide, that is any height from 566 to 1440 pixels.

    • Square post: 1080 x 1080
    • Portrait post, 4:5: 1080 x 1350
    • Tall post, 3:4: 1080 x 1440
    • Landscape post, 1.91:1: 1080 x 566
    • Story, 9:16: 1080 x 1920

    Why resize before you post
    _ □ x

A photo wider than 1080 pixels is reduced by Instagram when it uploads. A photo in a shape Instagram does not keep is cropped to one it does, and Instagram picks the crop.

Resize first and you see the crop before you post. If the middle of the photo is not the part you want, crop it in your photo app first, then resize it here.

    How it works
    _ □ x
    1. Drop your JPG, PNG, or WebP photo into the box above
    2. Pick a size from the preset list. Square is selected to start
    3. Click Resize. The middle of the photo is kept and the edges are trimmed to fit
    4. Download the photo and post it

Whole photo, no crop: click the Proportions button to lock proportions. The width stays at 1080 and the height follows your photo's own shape.

Your photos never leave your device. Resizing happens in your browser with the Canvas API, and nothing is uploaded. The resized file is a fresh drawing of your photo, so it carries none of the original's EXIF data: no camera model, no GPS location.

This is why we run entirely in-browser: if we can't touch your files, we can't lose them, leak them, or profile them.
